Disk Cache Settings
For applications that generate heavy I/O, like Primavera, opt for writeback mode.
- none: Strikes a middle ground between native speed and data protection by skipping the host cache, making it the go-to for production environments and live migrations.
- writeback: Delivers top-tier performance by caching writes in the host’s RAM, but if the host crashes before data is flushed to disk, you risk losing that information.
- writethrough: Guarantees the highest level of data integrity by only acknowledging a write after it has been committed to physical storage, though this comes at the cost of notably sluggish write speeds.
A reboot is necessary after modifying this setting.
