GPU support

DaDesktop offers two ways to tap into GPU capabilities:

  1. Physical GPU passthrough (available at select datacentres). This delivers full hardware acceleration because it uses a real graphics card.
  2. GPU simulation via LLVM Pipe. This works flawlessly with any of our Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04. However, it currently does not function on Windows 10.

If you're unsure whether your desired application needs a GPU (Blender, for instance, does), you might come across a message like this:

"A graphics card and driver supporting OpenGL 3.3 or higher is required. Updating to the latest driver for your graphics card might resolve the issue."
