How to Create Standalone Desktops
To build Standalone Desktops, follow these steps:
- Select 'Standalones' from the top menu
- Click 'Create New Standalone' Desktop
- A dialog window will appear as shown below

Below is an explanation of each field:
- GPU Model
Select the GPU model and type if needed. Checking 'Display GPU enabled servers' will filter the list to only show servers with GPUs available - Data Centre / Server
Choose the data centre region and server that is nearest to your location in Portugal. - OS to clone from
There are several Operating Systems to choose from.
If a template is marked 'Copy Required', it means the template is available but must first be copied to the server before it can be used. Typically, only Windows operating systems may involve extra costs. - Include Custom, RC, and Old Versions
DaDesktop frequently updates OS templates, but if you encounter issues with the newest template, you can try using an older version.
- Memory
Specify the memory limit for the desktops. Keep in mind that you are constrained by the server's resources by default. Memory limits vary per server. To raise these limits, contact us via Support Chat. - Label
Provide an alias if you'd like to assign a more straightforward name to your standalone.
Selecting an OS Template to Clone
You have multiple choices when selecting and creating an Operating System Template.
Options include Windows and various Linux distributions like Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, and others.
Pre-built templates, usually identified by a version number like V51, are available. But we also offer the option to build completely up-to-date Linux templates. The 'Build New' Linux templates rely on a different build system that combines Linux source files with a script providing the necessary DaDesktop customizations. As a result, these templates are always current, secure, and simpler to deploy and maintain.

Building an OS Template

Once you've chosen the desired template, the following pop-up will appear.
Click 'Start Building'
Your standalone desktop will now be constructed. Note that the build process might take over 30 seconds; if it seems to be stuck, just wait a bit longer.
Template now built and available

After the template is built, you can modify any settings if needed, then click: 'Save and Create Desktop'.
Your Standalone desktop is being created; this usually takes just a few moments, significantly less time than building the template.
Your new Standalone is now ready. In the example below, it's named 'julian-6iqm', but you could have assigned a more descriptive label if desired.

Click 'Connect' to launch and connect to your Standalone machine.
